The passage of time

There’s nothing quite like sunset (or sunrise).

For me, it conveys a sense of time passing, a sense of change. Light changing into darkness, or darkness changing into light.

What’s difficult to bear will eventually pass. What’s wonderful and delightful will also pass.

The passage of time is impartial. It is harsh but not evil. It gives rise to both good and terrible, and also destroys both good and terrible.

Because of time, we exist.

It reminds me to treasure what’s precious, because it will not last, and might disappear faster than expected.

It reminds me not to let a moment of anger or frustration lead to words that spoil a beautiful evening, or even destroy a relationship. Because these emotions, like everything else, is ephemeral and exist only in a short window of time.

Om kalaya namah 🙏
