Mars conjunct Ketu in sidereal Leo

Mars just left sidereal Cancer on 7th June and entered sidereal Leo, where it will remain until 29 July.

Some of you may know that Cancer is the sign of debilitation for Mars. Here, Mars exhibits its less desirable qualities, leading to increased impatience, irritability, and a tendency towards anger, even aggression.

So I really looked forward to Mars entering sidereal Leo, where Mars is much happier and less problematic until I realised that Ketu, or the South Node is also transiting through this sign. Simply put, Mars and Ketu can lead to pretty intense experiences.

Ketu can be likened to a headless body, representing confusion, inner turmoil, and a lack of direction. It’s like a boat adrift at sea, unsure of where the nearest land is, hence the direction to sail.

Mars and Ketu

When Ketu gets together with Mars, they symbolise action without direction, rashness and recklessness. In extreme situations, they can also symbolise intense anger and aggressive, the metaphorical “losing our head”, much like a tiger forced into a corner.

Where this Mars-Ketu energy show up would depend on which house in your birth chart it is transiting through. If it is going through the 7th House of relationships, there can be difficult arguments with your partner. If it is going through your 10th house of career, then it can manifest as conflicts in the workplace.

Conflicts are something new trying to happen

Conflicts in a relationship, be it a romantic, business and family relationship, can be difficult experiences, but my favourite perspective of these conflicts is that they are telling us that something new is trying to happen. There is a change that needs to happen within the relationship, conflicts is an expression of the relationship telling us that, “hey! There is an imbalance in the relationship. We need to change in order to bring balance back, so that the relationship can continue to thrive”.

In this way, I think conflicts are good thing, because it shows that the relationship has the desire to change and be better. The process of going through a conflict is like a seed working very hard to push its way through the soil into the sunlight. It is difficult and uncomfortable, but necessarily to grow and thrive.

When conflicts next happen, we can ask ourselves, where’s the imbalance in the relationship? Perhaps there is a role that is neglected in the relationship. For example, couples with young children are often focused on the role of parenthood, and the role of romantic partners gets neglected. In this case, the lack of connection and intimacy is the source of the imbalance.

In the case of business partnerships, imbalances often arise in the form of misaligned goals or unmet expectations.

It takes courage and willingness to be vulnerable to start a conversation about imbalances in the relationship. It also takes courage and willingness to be vulnerable to acknowledge and accept where the relationship hasn’t gone so well, and to take steps to address it.

But that’s how relationships transform—and how relationships grow stronger.

I wish all of you courage, strength, and thriving relationships.
