Namaskaram, I hope you have all been well.
Jupiter has entered Sidereal Cancer on October 18th and will remain there until December 6th. Today, I will be sharing about Jupiter, before writing about his condition in his sign of exaltation, Cancer.
In astrology — be it Western or Vedic — Jupiter is considered a benefic planet, in fact the greatest benefic. Jupiter signifies wisdom, prosperity, wealth, and children.
Wherever Jupiter is placed in a chart, that house receives its protection and support. What does that mean? For example, the 1st house in our birth chart represents our health, and if Jupiter is in your 1st house, Jupiter there will protect your health — you won’t fall sick or get injured easily.
If Jupiter is in a money-related house, such as the 2nd or 11th house, finances tend to flow more smoothly. If it is in the 5th house, our house of children, then you may have more children, or the process of having children may be smoother. This is what it means when we say Jupiter gives support and protection.
In other words, Jupiter brings blessings to the house it occupies.
That is the basic interpretation of Jupiter.
Now, what about Cancer? Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer. We can also say that Cancer is Jupiter’s exaltation sign.
The sign that a planet is in, is akin to the environment that it is in, and the sign of exaltation represents an ideal environment for the planet – it is familiar, comfortable, and full of resources available to support the planet in playing it’s role fully and fruitfully for the native.
So when Jupiter is in or transiting through Cancer, the benefic qualities it symbolizes are expressed to the fullest.
To better understand how this Jupiter transit is impacting you, take a look at your birth chart, making sure the chart is cast using the sidereal zodiac. Look for the house that Cancer is in, and what that house signifies in a birth chart. This Jupiter transit through Cancer will bring blessings related to that house.
This year, Jupiter’s transit through Cancer is rather short, from October 18th to December 6th. Typically, Jupiter stays in a sign for about a year. But this year, shortly after entering Cancer, it turns retrograde and goes back into Gemini, hence the short stay. But not to worry, next year, after June 2026, Jupiter will return to Cancer once again and remain there for a longer period of time.
You can think of this year’s Jupiter transit through Cancer as a sneak preview, a movie trailer of sorts. After June next year, the full movie will officially begin.
The last time Jupiter transited through Cancer was from June 2014 to June 2015. So you can also think back to your experiences during that time and the blessing that came your way, then relate it to the house that Cancer corresponds to in your chart. This may give an indication of what to expect during this particularJupiter transit. Of course, what happened last time and what will happen this time may not be exactly the same, as there are other factors to consider as well, such as the planetary period (daśā) that you are currently running.
Alright, that’s all for this post. Please feel free to share in the comments what happened in your life during Jupiter’s last transit through Cancer.
